What we will cover


High-throughput droplet screening with Onyx and Styx. Onyx generates and manipulates droplets, including pico-injection and merging, so you can add reagents after encapsulation and build multi-step functional assays. Styx then sorts those droplets by fluorescence at up to 1,000 per second. Together they let you find the rare, functionally relevant strain or enzyme in a library of millions, in hours rather than days.
Single-cell genomics with Semi-Permeable Capsules (SPCs). An SPC holds a single cell inside a permeable shell: cells and nucleic acids stay in, while enzymes, buffers and oligonucleotides diffuse freely in and out. That makes it possible to run incompatible reactions in sequence on the same cell, like lysis, then amplification, then barcoding, each under its own optimal conditions. For microbiome work, this means strain-level resolution of communities that shotgun metagenomics averages over.
We will cover how each approach works, where it fits alongside the methods you already run, and what has been shown so far in application examples.

Justina Pupkaite, Atrandi Biosciences

Justina Pupkaite, PhD joined Atrandi in 2022 as a Senior R&D Scientist. She worked on developing ultra high-throughput biological assays on the Onyx and Styx platforms. Since 2024, she has been supporting researchers in using both droplet and semi-permeable capsule technologies as a Field Application Scientist.

Linas Tamosaitis, PhD is a Sr. Field Application Scientist at Atrandi Biosciences, that bridges science and application, helping researchers unlock the full potential of our Semi-Permeable Capsule (SPC) technology. With a strong background in molecular biology and HTS, he collaborates closely with scientists to translate complex innovator designs into clear, effective experimental strategies. At Atrandi, Linas’s work centers on empowering laboratories to push the boundaries of single-cell discovery.

Stephanie Gao, Atrandi Biosciences

Stephanie Gao, PhD is a Field Application Scientist at Atrandi Biosciences where she supports researchers in developing and implementing single-cell assays and sequencing workflows. Prior to joining Atrandi, she received her PhD in Bioengineering from Northeastern University, where she developed a novel ultra-high-throughput screening platform using Atrandi’s Onyx and Styx for antibiotic discovery. Her technical expertise in droplet microfluidics, microbiology, and assay development has led to a particular interest in applying high-throughput technologies to further advance microbial research.
